在人类中，组织金属蛋白酶抑制因子4 (TIMP-4)是由组织金属蛋白酶抑制剂家族中的TIMP4基因编码的一种蛋白质。该家族有四个成员，TIMP-1、TIMP-2、TIMP-3和TIMP-4。在TIMP家族的四个已知成员中，TIMP-4具有所有TIMPs的共同特征和自身独特的特征。与TIMP-2不同，TIMP-4不通过活化的MMP-14(MT1-MMP)促进MMP-2前体的激活。TIMP-4 mRNA在心脏中高水平表达，在肾脏、胰腺、结肠和睾丸中表达水平较低。TIMP-4在乳腺癌、宫颈癌、子宫内膜癌、神经胶质瘤和绒毛膜癌等多种癌症中均有表达。
